Market ID for DataPlugs

#1

Hi @andrius,

Just went through the DataPlug codes. A couple of queries.

MarketID
For a dataplug to work, it needs to be registered with a Market.
For development and testing purposes, is there a Development Env MarketID/MarketPlace we can use?

For new DataPlugs, how do I register for to get the MarketID (and get published on the MarketPlace)?

Conceptually, do you envisage the development of Multiple MarketPlaces (by different providers)? If yes, dataplugs should be runnable in all the market places? If so, is there a specification that all market places must implement to be HAT/Marketplace compliant?

Hi @Terry_Lee,

Currently MarketSquare allows dataplugs to be submitted and be usable (but not discoverable) before they get “approved”, so the MarketSquare environment would be the one. You can then get the MarketID and corresponding token from your list of dataplugs.

If you sign up on MarketSquare for a Data Shopper account (1) and ask to be able to create Data Plugs (2), you will be able to register a dataplug (3)->(4). When registering a dataplug you need to provide a data model definition for MarketSquare to allow forming new offers based on the data, models of current plugs are on github:

Answering the conceptual bit as a separate reply to not mix it up with the technical details.

Not in the near future - you may remember our discussion a while ago on managing applications/dataplugs and a sort of an app store and due to lack of commercial interest HATDeX decided to implement it as a necessary service. All certified HATs have to be registered with MarketSquare as do all certified dataplugs. “Certification” for now is a very light touch just making sure it looks reasonable and trustworthy, but the quality control and policing is very important in the personal data space, so we don’t see it going away, nor we see multiple MarketPlaces with the official HAT ecosystem, although some of that may be delegated to partner organisations as we all build up capacity, but not completely without any oversight.

If yes, dataplugs should be runnable in all the market places?

So the short answer is no

If so, is there a specification that all market places must implement to be HAT/Marketplace compliant?

No, but we can get a discussion going on the delegation side of things.

Hope this clarifies.
